Main cities of Spain at MTN50 first digital edition

English: Map of Spain in year 2000 (when the publication of the first digital edition of MTN50, which began in 1999, was just beginning), created by IGN (Instituto Geográfico Nacional, National Geographic Institute, also creator of MTN50). It allows to locate the different autonomous communities, provinces and cities mentioned here, in Spain as a whole.

Permite ubicar las diferentes comunidades autónomas, provincias y ciudades mencionadas aquí, en el conjunto de España.

First digital edition of MTN50 (Spanish National Topographic Map at 1:50,000 scale) main series was published between 1999 and 2010, with a sheet for Ceuta and Melilla published in 2011, and "Madrid y su entorno" (Madrid and its surroundings) special sheet being published in 2012.

This gallery includes the pages of the first digital edition of MTN50 corresponding to (note: the data taken into account when applying these criteria are those corresponding to the period 1999-2012, when the edition was published; as of 2023, there is, for example, some other city with a greater population than the capital of its province, which is not included here, while Talavera de la Reina is no longer the city with the largest population in its province, but it was in the period 1999-2012, which is why it has been included here):

• All 50 provincial capitals.
• The capitals of autonomous communities that are not also the capital of a province (Mérida and Santiago de Compostela).
• The 2 autonomous cities (Ceuta and Melilla).
• Cities with a greater population than that of the capital of their province: Gijón, Jerez de la Frontera, Talavera de la Reina and Vigo.
• The cities that belong to Madrid and Barcelona metropolitan areas.
• Other cities with a population bigger than 100,000, which do not fall within any of the previous groups: Algeciras, Cartagena, Elche, Marbella and San Cristóbal de la Laguna.

All the sheets are shown grouped according to the autonomous community to which they belong. The name of the latter, in the title of the section, is always shown, in order, in English, in Spanish, and, if the autonomous community has another official language, in addition to Spanish, also in that language. If the autonomous community has the same name in all different languages, the name will only be displayed once.

La primera edición digital del MTN50 (Mapa Topográfico Nacional de España a escala 1:50.000) fue publicada entre 1999 y 2010 (la serie principal), con una hoja adicional para Ceuta y Melilla publicada en 2011, y la hoja especial "Madrid y su entorno" publicada en 2012.

En esta galería se incluyen las hojas de la primera edición digital del MTN50 correspondientes a (nota: los datos tenidos en cuenta a la hora de aplicar estos criterios, son los correspondientes al periodo 1999-2012, en el que fue publicada la edición; a fecha de 2023, existe, por ejemplo, alguna otra ciudad con mayor población que la capital de su provincia, que no ha sido incluida aquí, mientras que Talavera de la Reina ha dejado de ser la ciudad con mayor población de su provincia, pero lo era en el periodo 1999-2012, motivo por el que ha sido incluida aquí):

• Todas las 50 capitales de provincia.
• Las capitales de comunidades autónomas que no son a su vez capital de una provincia (Mérida y Santiago de Compostela).
• Las 2 ciudades autónomas (Ceuta y Melilla).
• Las ciudades con mayor población que la capital de su provincia: Gijón, Jerez de la Frontera, Talavera de la Reina y Vigo.
• Las ciudades que pertenecen a las áreas metropolitanas de Madrid y Barcelona.
• Otras ciudades de más de 100.000 habitantes, que no entran dentro de ninguno de los grupos anteriores: Algeciras, Cartagena, Elche, Marbella y San Cristóbal de la Laguna.

Todas las hojas se muestran agrupadas en función de la comunidad autónoma a la que pertenecen. El nombre de ésta, en el título de la sección, se muestra siempre, por orden, en inglés, en español, y, en el caso de que la comunidad autónoma tenga otro idioma oficial, además del español, también en dicho idioma. Si la comunidad autónoma tiene el mismo nombre en los diferentes idiomas, el nombre únicamente se mostrará una vez.
